Nasturtium Leaves

Categories: Nasturtium

Despite being possibly the most flavourful and versatile of all salad crops, and one that will grow almost anywhere you like, this exotic Incan vegetable has been unfairly relegated to the flower border for over a hundred years. Yet give it a chance in your veg patch and it will adorn your beds with an almost inexhaustible supply of peppery leaves, watercress-flavoured flowers and crisp seed pods for literally months on end. 25 seeds

Growing Tips

Sow the seed thinly direct into finely raked, moist, warm, weed-free soil where the plants are to flower 13mm (½") deep. Germination takes 10-14 days. As the seedlings develop, thin to achieve a final spacing of 25cm (10"). Alternatively, for pots and patio containers sow on a windowsill or in a greenhouse at approximately 13-18°C (55-65°F) 3 or 4 seeds to a 7.5cm (3") pot. Plant out after careful acclimatisation to outside conditions. Sowing to Cropping: 18-20 weeks.
