Order FAQs

1. How are orders shipped?

All orders are packaged by our team in Halifax and shipped via Canada Post.

2. How are shipping rates calculated?

Flat rate shipping for small orders is $7 anywhere in Canada. All other shipping options are calculated by Canada Post depending on the size and weight of the order and the destination postal code.

3. Do you send shipping confirmations?

You will receive an order confirmation after your order has been placed. Orders are typically mailed 24-72 hours after being placed. We do not send shipping confirmations, but you can always reach out to our team at orders@halifaxseed.ca for an update on the status of your order.

4. Can I track my order?

Flat rate shipping does not include tracking information. For all other shipping methods, you can find your tracking number with your order details under the Activity and Notifications section of your account page. Customers without an account will not have access to this page and can contact orders@halifaxseed.ca for tracking information.

5. Why am I getting a shipping calculation error?

Please review your entries in the shipping and billing fields for accuracy. If the error persists, please send a screenshot of your cart with your mailing address and phone number to orders@halifaxseed.ca.

6. I have not received my order, what should I do?

Please check your order confirmation to confirm your shipping address was entered correctly, including apartment or suite numbers. Refer to your tracking number (if applicable) to see if there has been a delay in shipping. You can reference Canada Post’s delivery standards to determine the expected delivery time for your area. If your address was entered correctly and your order is outside the expected window for delivery, please contact us at orders@halifaxseed.ca

7. I see two charges on my credit card, have I been charged twice?

Our payment processing software places a hold on your card when your order is confirmed. After your order has been shipped and invoiced, your card will be charged. Sometimes this results in both the hold and the final charge appearing on your card statement, but the hold will be removed within a few days. Only one charge will be applied to your card.

8. What do I do if there is a problem with my order?

If your order arrived damaged:
Please reach out within 24 hours of receipt to orders@halifaxseed.ca. Include your order number (WEB-000000), a description of the damage, and photos if possible.
If an item in your order was defective:
Please reach out within 24 hours of receipt to orders@halifaxseed.ca. Include your order number (WEB-000000), a description of the defect, and photos if possible.
If you received the wrong item:
Please reach out within 24 hours of receipt to orders@halifaxseed.ca. Include your order number (WEB-000000), the item sent in error, the item you requested, and photos if possible.
If your seed packet contained too few seeds:

Please reach out to orders@halifaxseed.ca. Include your order number (WEB-000000), the variety of seed, and photos of the front and back of the packet if possible.

9. How can I make a return?

We are happy to accept returns of unopened, unused product within 30 days from the time of receipt. Please reach out to orders@halifaxseed.ca with your order number (WEB-000000), the reason for your return, and photos if possible. Shipping fees will apply. Approved refunds will be issued to the card used to place the original order. We are unable to accept returns of product that has been removed from its packaging or otherwise used. Please contact us immediately for assistance with damaged or defective product. Following approval, replacements for damaged or defective products will be sent at no extra charge.

10. How can I make a change to my order?

If you need to update your shipping address or fix an error in your address, please IMMEDIATELY email orders@halifaxseed.ca or call our Halifax branch at (902) 454-7456. Any delay in notifying us of an address change may result in your order being delivered to the incorrect location. If you would like to add products to your order, please place an additional order and add a note in the special instructions field to combine the orders, including your original order number (WEB-000000). We will do our best to consolidate your orders and adjust the shipping charge, but cannot make a guarantee.

11. Do you offer a guarantee on your seeds?

Halifax Seed guarantees that all of our seed surpasses the standards set out by the Canada Seeds Act and Regulations. Please understand that we cannot accept responsibility for the results of extreme weather or garden neglect. If at any time you are unhappy with a variety of home garden seed, please contact us so we can help provide a solution. To best assist you, a photo of the front and back of the seed packet and a photo or detailed description of your growing conditions will be required.

12. How do I use a gift card online?

Halifax Seed gift cards are for use in store only. If you would like to apply the balance of a gift card to an order, please reach out to orders@halifaxseed.ca with a photo of the serial number on the back of your card. You may also include a list or screenshot of your requested order and your mailing address.

14. Can I order online and pick up in store?

No, all online orders are mailed out via Canada Post. To ensure your security we do not accept credit card payments via email. If you would like to request an item be held for purchase in-store, you may reach out to our team at either location to discuss. Items cannot be held for longer than 7 days.

15. I have a commercial account with Halifax Seed, how can I place an order?

Please visit our wholesale site at commercial.halifaxseed.ca to view our available inventory. Reach out to your sales rep or to commercial@halifaxseed.ca for more information about your account, pricing, and shipping.

16. I have an American credit card, how can I place an order?

At this time we offer shipping within Canada only. If you wish to use an American credit card to place an order within Canada, please reach out to orders@halifaxseed.ca. In your message please provide your Canadian shipping address, your billing address, your order request and a contact phone number. For security reasons, please do not list credit card information in your email.
