Fall Flowering Saffron Crocus 'Sativus'
Crocus 'Sativus' is well known for the flower responsible for producing saffron. Plant in well-draining soil in sun to part shade. Make sure the bulbs will receive sun during bloom time. If bulbs stay in damp soil, such as clay, they could rot. Hardy from zone 6 to 9, be sure that your planting zone is appropriate before planting. In zone 6, mulch in winter for protection. Make sure to plant Saffron Crocus bulbs at least 6 weeks before chance of frost. The bulbs (corms) don't store well and should be planted soon after you receive them. Plant now for blooms this fall. Fall flowering crocus bulbs will naturalize and return for several years if the foliage is allowed to die off. 5 bulbs per package.
